INSCRIPTIONS OF THE CHANDELLAS OF JEJAKABHUKTI
SĒMRĀ COPPER-PLATE GRANT OF PARAMARDIDĒVA

______________________
1 Metre: śārdūlavikrīḍita, of which only six letters are preserved, and the same of the next two verses
which are partly preserved. The number of the verse to be read 2, as shown by the
impression in
which it is slightly wornout.
2 Metre of this and the next verse: Upajāti. The reading here is often incorrect and also offending
against the metre.
3 Metre : Sragdharā.
4 Metre : Mālinī. Insert a daṇḍa after jit and at the end of the line.
5 Metre : Indravajrā or Upajāti. Insert a daṇḍa before yō in the preceding line.
6 Metre : Rathōddhatā. Insert a daṇḍa after siktayā, as also below, wherever necessary, which have not
been separately pointed out.
7 Metre : Upajāti.
8 Metre : Anushṭubh.
9 Metre : Mālinī.
10 Metre : Sragdharā.
11 Metre : Upēndravajrā or Upajāti, which cannot be ascertained as the first half of the verse is lost.
12 Metre : Śārdūlavikrīḍita.
13 Metre of this and of the next verse: Upajāti.
14 Metre : Sragdharā. 15 Metre : Upajāti. Probably yuḥ is intended.
16 Metre of this and the next verse which is partly preserved : Śārdūlavikrīḍita. Read udvīkshatē as one
word. Errors of this type are often to be found in Maisey’s transcript, for which see note in the edition of this inscription.
17 This line is full of errors but I have no means to show the correct reading,
18 Metre : Mālinī, the half of which is not marked, as in some other cases, as already noted.
19 Metre : Sragdharā.
20 Metre : Sragdharā. The first twelve letters in this line cannot be correctly construed and the last two
offend against the metre. The transcript is obviously incorrect.
21 Metre : Śārdūlavikrīḍita.
