________________________
1 In his article in op. cit., p. 12, n. 135, Kielhorn shows the total of all the distributed shares to be 24½ ;
but according to my calculations it comes to be 24. The expression in v. 84 I interpret to mean that
‘both the worshippers, viz., Ratna and Tihuṇēka obtained half-share together’ and not each as Kielhorn takes it. But the actual number of shares mentioned above in v. 75 is 24½, and we may presume
that the land constituting half-the-share may have been left fallow to mark the boundaries between
the different shares.
