KĪḶPĀḌI, MANGALORE TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab set up in a field

1199 A. D.

This record registers a gift of land to a certain Vaidya (name not clear) by Dēvarasa of Komāramaṅgala and others.

It is dated the cyclic year Siddhārthi, Vṛishabha 15, [Saturday], probably corresponding to 1199 A.D., May 9 Sunday, which might be the date intended.

TEXT

1 ಸ್ವಸ್ತಿಶ್ರೀ ಸಿಧ್ಧಾರ್ತಿ ಸಮವತ್ಸರದ [ರಿ]-

2 ಷಭ ಮಾಸ 15 [ಸ] ಕೊಮಾ

3 ರಮಂಗಿಲದ ದೇವರಸ[ಭತಿ]ವಂ ದೇವ-

4 ರಾಯ ಮೊದಲಾಗೆ ನೂತಿನಿಯ ರುಂ

5 ಕೂಡಿ ತಂಮಲೇಕಸ್ತರಾಗಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟ . . .

6 . .ವೈದ್ಯಂಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟ ಕಾರಾ . ಕೆ ಮೂಡೆ [ 1]

7 ಗೆ ಯೆರ[ಡು]ಗದ್ದೆ ಬದೆಕಾರ ಮೂ 17 –

8 ಕ್ಕೆ ಆ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಗೇಣಿಭತ್ತ ಮೂ 45 ನಿ[ಷೆ]-

9 ಬಾಳು ಮುಡೆ ಆ ಭೂಮಿಗೆ ಸಭೆಯೊ[ಡೈ]-

10 ಯ ಸಲ್ಲದೆ ವಾರೊಬರು ತಾಂಗುತಡವಿಂ –

11 ಗೆ ಬಂದವರಿಗೆ ಅರಸಿಂಗೆ ತಪ್ಪುಗ –

12 101 ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಗ 51 ನಂತ . . .

13 ದೆಂ ಬಡಕವಂ ಕೆಡ್ಸಿದವಗೆ ಸ .

14 ಗ ಮಂಗಳಮಹಾ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ||

Pillar of the maṇḍapa of the Anantanātha basti

Circa 12th century

This record in Sanskrit verse states that the mandira of the chaitya was caused to be built by Mañjeṇa alias Koṁṇa-bhūpati.
