THE GUPTA INSCRIPTIONS
edited the record last identifies the Suvarṇarēkhā with the Sōnrēkhā on the authority of
Bhagwanlal Indraji, but in regard to the Palāśinī makes the remark that its name does not
survive. But the Kāṭhiāwāḍ volume of the B.G. tells us that “a little further on,” that is,
between the boulder bearing inscriptions and the Girnār hill, “is the Palāśinī bridge built by
Sundarji Shavji, the first native agent to the British Government in the Political Department
in Kāṭhiāwāḍ.” This shows that the river Palāśinī is still in existence. Rudradāman’s inscription mentions another river, namely, the Suvarṇasikatā, side by side with the Palāśinī. It
has been rightly identified with the Sōnrēkhā. As regards the embankment referred to in the
record, attention may be drawn to the fact that remains of it were discovered in 1890 by
Khan Bahadur Ardeeser Jamshetjee, Special Divan of Junāgaḍh.
