538.─Ś. 1514.─ South-Ind. Inscr. Vol. I. No. 58, p. 85. Viriñchipuram Tamil inscription of the reign of the Mahâmaṇḍalêśvara Veṅkaṭapati I.,[1] recording a grant by Periya-Erama-Nâyaka of Punnârrûr :─

‘ On the 6th solar day of the month of Tai of the Nandana year, which was current after the Śaka year 1514.’

539.─Ś. 1523.─Ep. Ind. Vol. IV. p. 272 ; Ind. Ant. Vol. II. p. 371, and Plates. Veḷâppâkam (Viḷâpâka) plates[2] of Vîra-Veṅkaṭapati-mahârâya (Veṅkaṭapati I.) of Karṇâṭa, recording a grant which was made at the request of Liṅga, the son of Bomma of Vêlûru[3] and grandson of Vîrappa-Nâyaka ; (composed by Râma, the son of Kâmakôṭi and grandson of Sabhâpati) :─

(L. 109).─ Śakti-nêtra-kaḷamb-êṁdu-gaṇitê Śaka-vatsarê | [Pla]va-saṁvatsarê puṇyê mâśi(si) Vaiśâkha-nâmani | pakshê [va]ḷakshê puṇya-rkshê puṇyâyâṁ dvâdasî(śî)-tithau |

In the Moon’s race (after mythical and legendary beings), Tâta-Pinnama [I.] ; his son Sômidêva ; his son Râghavadêva ; his son Pinnama [II.], lord of Ȃravîḍu ; his son Bukka (firmly established the kingdom of Sâḷuva-Nṛisiṁha[4]) ; his son Râmarâja [I.] ; his son Śrîraṅgarâja [I.] ; his sons Râmarâja [II.],[5] Tirụmalarâya [I.][6] and Veṅkaṭâdri, of whom Tirumalarâya [I.] was installed as king ; his son Śrîraṅgarâya [II.] ;[7] his younger brother Veṅkaṭapati [I.] (defeated Mahamandaśâhu, the son of Malikîbharâma, i.e. Muḥammad Shâh, the son of Malik Ibrâhîm of Golkoṇḍa)

‘ Śaka 1543 (in words, l .18 of the first side ; vêda, 3; ambudhi, 4; śara, 5;and kshôṇî, 1), the Durmati saṁvatsara ; Saturday, the third day of the bright fortnight of Vaiśâkha.’,[9] Saturday, 14th April A.D. 1621 ; see Ind. Ant. Vol. XXIII. p. 121, No. 49.

541.─Ś. 1547.─PSOCI. No. 243 ; Mysore Inscr. No. 122, p. 221. Bêlûr Kanarese inscription of Kṛishṇappa-Nâyaka, Veṅkaṭâdri-Nâyaka, and others :─

(L. 4).─Śâlivâhana-Sha(śa)ka-varushaṁgaḷu 1547nê Krôdhana-saṁvatsarada Mâgha-ba 5 Sômavâra.

542.─Ś. 1556.[10]Ep. Ind. Vol. III. p. 240. Kûniyûr plates[2] of Vira-Veṅkaṭapati-mahârâya (Peda-Veṅkaṭa, Veṅkaṭapati II., the elder son of Śrîraṅgarâya IV. who was a son of Râmarâja II.) of Karṇaṭa, residing at Penugoṇḍa ; recording a grant which was made at the request of Tirumala-Nâyaka (of Madhurâ) ; (composed by Râma, the son of Kâmakôṭi and grandson of Sabhâpati) :─

(L. 103).─Ri(ṛi)tu-bâṇa-kaḷaṁb-êṁdu-gaṇitê Śaka-vatsarê | Bhâv-âbhidâ(dhâ)nakê varshê mâsi Vaiśâkha-nâmani | pakshê vaḷakshê puṇya-rkshê paurna(rṇa)mâsyâṁ mahâtithau |
