GUṆḌUGALLU, PUNGANUR TALUK, CHITTOOR DISTRICT

Base of dhvaja-staṁbha in a betel-garden called Kambadagaḍḍa-maḍi

Harihara II, 1400 A.D.

      This is dated Śaka 1322, Vi[krama], Prathama-Chaitra ba. 8, Wednesday corresponding to 1400 A.D., March 17, Wednesday, f.d.t. .54.

      It states that seven goldsmiths of Guṁḍuṁgalu whose names are given and who were sons of Kandōja, had the lamp-pillar erected, to god Mallikārjunadēva of Śrīparvata for the merit of their parents during the period of Mallinātha, younger brother of Dēvarāya who was an agent of Bhikshāvṛitti-Siddayya and Dēvayya. Guṁḍuṁgalapura is stated to have belonged to the temple of the deity. Veṅkayya wrote the record.
