TEXT OF INSCRIPTIONS

(A. R. No. 609 of 1929-30)

PĀṆḌĒŚVARA, UDIPI TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab (No. 8) set up in the prākāra of Śaṅkaranārāyaṇa temple

Dēvarāya I, 1407 A.D.

This is dated Śaka 1330, Sarvajit (current), Karttika śu. 1, Thursday. In the given year corresponding to 1407 A.D., the tithi occurred on October 2, when the weekday was Sunday. This appears to be intended date.

It records an assignment of gold due to the king from certain lands to the god Śaṅkaranārāyaṇa of Pāṇḍyēśvara for burning a perpetual lamp, by the king, the prajas and the heggade and others of the village. It states that Bāchaṇṇa-oḍeya of Gōve was then governing Bārakūra-rājya.

1 ಶ್ರೀ ಗಣಾಧಿಪತಯೇ ನಮಃ ನಿರ್ವಿಘ್ನಮಸ್ತು | ನಮಸ್ತುಂಗ

2 ಶಿರಃ ಚುಂಬಿ ಚಂದ್ರಚಾಮರ ಚಾರವೇ ತ್ರಯಲೋಕ್ಯ ನಗರಾ –

3 ರಂಭ ಮೂಲಸ್ತಂಭಾಯ ಸಂಭವೇತು | ದಾನಪಾಲ –

4 ನಯೋರ್ಮಧ್ಯೇ ದಾನಾಶ್ರೇಯೋನ್ರುಪಾಲನಂ ದಾನಾ[ತ್*]ಸ್ವರ್ಗ –

5 ಮವಾಪ್ನೋತಿ ಪಾಲನಾದಚ್ಯುತಂ ಪದಂ | ಸ್ವಸ್ತಿಶ್ರೀ ಜ –

6 ಯಾದ್ಭುದಯ ಶಕವರುಷ 1330 ನೆಯ ವರ್ತ್ತಮಾನ ಸ –

7 ರ್ವ್ವಜಿತು ಸಂವತ್ಸರದ ಕಾತ್ತಿಕ ಶು 1 ಗುರುವಾರದಂದು

8 ಸ್ವಸ್ತಿಶ್ರೀ ಮಹಾರಾಜಾಧಿರಾಜ ರಾಜಪರಮೇಸ್ವರ ಶ್ರೀವೀ –

9 ರ ಪ್ರತಾಪ ದೇವರಾಯ ಮಹಾರಾಯರು ಸಕಲ ಸಾಂಬ್ರಾ –

10 ಜ್ಯವನು ಪ್ರತಿಪಾಲಿಸುವ ಕಾಲದಲೂ ಆ ರಾಯರ ನಿರೂ –

11 ಪದಿಂ ಗೋವೆಯ ಬಾಚಂಣ ಊಡೆಯರು ಬಾರಕೂರ ರಾಜ್ಯ –

12 ವನಾಳಿ ಸಕಳ ಧರ್ಮ್ಮಂಗಳನೂ ಪಾಲಿಸುವ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ

13 ಪಾಂಡ್ಯೇಸ್ವರದ ಸಂಖರನಾರಾಯಣದೇವರ ನಂದಾ –

14 ದೀವೆಗೆಯ ಧಂರ್ಮ್ಮಕ್ಕೆ ಬರದುನಟ್ಟ ಶಿಲಾಶಾಸನದ ಕ್ರಮ ಉ –

15 ೦ತೆಂದರೆ ಪಾಂಡ್ಯೇಸ್ವರದ ಶಂಖರನಾರಾಯಣದೇವರ ಪಾ –
