(A. R. No. 271A of 1931-32)

HOSĀḶA, UDIPI TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab set up in Yeḍatāru seṭṭi’s hāḍi (jungle) at Chauḷikēri

Bhujabalarāya (Vīra Narasiṁha), 1509 A.D.

This record which is badly damaged registers of lands probably to the temple of Śiva by Basavaseṭṭi, son-in-law of Ajara Nāraṇaseṭṭi, when Sōmaṇṇa-oḍeya was governing Bārakūru-rājya at the instance of Bhujabala-rāya.

The record, which appears to have been engraved in continuation of No. 167 above, is dated the cyclic year Sukla, Chaitra śu. 1, Wednesday. As the record may be palaeographically assigned to the 15th-16th century, the corresponding English equivalent of the date would probably be 1509 A.D., March 21, in which case the inscription falls in the reign-period of Vira-Narasiṁha, the Bhujabalarāya of the record.

1 ಮತ್ತಂ ಶುಕ್ಲ ಸಂವತ್ಸರದ ಚೈಂತ್ರ ಶು 1 ಬುಧವಾರದಲು ಭುಜಬಲರಾಯರ

2 ಮಂಣೊಡೆಯ ಬಾರಕೂರ ರಾಜ್ಯವನು ಸ್ತಿರರಾಜ್ಯಂಗೆಯಿಉತ್ತಿಪ್ಪ ಕಾಲದಲೂ
