SIMANTŪRU, MANGALORE TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab (No. 2) set up in the Janārdhanasvāmin temple

Kṛishṇadēvarāya, 1512-13 A.D.

This is dated Śaka [1435], Āṅgirasa, other details being lost. The year corresponds to 1512-13 A.D., the Śaka year being current.

The record which is badly damaged seems to register a political agreement between Tirumalarāya-chavuṭa, Kunda-heggaḍe and the karaṇika- heggaḍe of Tirumalarasa, to cease all acts of hostility against one another and to jointly encounter the invading forces of Bhayirarasa in case of attack. It refers to Ratṇappa-voḍeya as governing Maṅgalūru- Bārakūru-rājya at the instance of Timma . . daṇṇāyaka.
