ಗದೆಯ್ಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮು 1 ಕಳಿಯ ಬಯ್ಯ –

46 ಲಿ | ಅಣ ಮುಚಕರನ ಗದ್ದೆಯಿಂದಂ ತೆಂಕ ಗದ್ದೆಲಿ | ಮು 10 [ನಿ]ಡಿತಾಳನ

HOSĀḶA, UDIPI TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

............. Slab standing on a hillock to the south of the tank opposite the
temple of Gaṇapati at Chauḷikēri

Sadāśivarāya, 1577 A.D.

This is dated Śaka 1499 (current), Īśvara, Mārgaśira ba. 30, sōmōparāga. The tithi corresponds to 1577 A.D., December 9, the weekday being Monday. Reference to the lunar eclipse is obviously wrong. The engraver appears to have engraved ‘Sōmōparāga’ instead of Śōmavāra, i.e. Monday.

It registers a gift of land for worship, maintaining a feeding house, etc, in the maṭha constructed in the temple of Vighnēśvara of Chauḷiyakēri, by Muddaheggaḍe Aṇṇama-seṭṭi when Saṅkaṇa-nāyaka and Rāmarāja-nāyaka, sons of Sadāśivarāya-nāyaka of Keḷadi were governing Gutti, Araga and Bārakūru-rājyas and at their instance Achchappa-voḍeya of Kanaūru was administering Bārakūru-rājya
