TEXT OF INSCRIPTIONS

It is dated Śaka 807, [Śōbhakrit], Āshāḍha [ba] 13, Dakshiṇāyana- [saṁkrānti]. The details are irregular. The cyclic year corresponded to Śaka 805 (883 A.D.) when the saṅkrānti occurred on Junee 24, Monday, the tithi being Āshāḍha-pūrṇimā. In Śaka 807 (885 A.D.) the saṅkrānti occurred on June 24, Thursday the tithi being Āshāḍha śu. 9. The former might be the intended date.

1 ಶ್ರೀ ಶಕನ್ರಿಪಕಾಲಾತೀತ ಸಂವತ್ಸರಮೆಣ್ಟುನೂಱ ಏಱನೆಯ ವರ್ಷಂ

2 [ಪ್ರವ]ತ್ತಿಸೆ [ಶೋ]ಭಕೃ[ತ್ಸಂವ*]ತ್ಸರ [ದಾಷಾಢ] ಮಾಸದ ಬ[ಹು]ಲ
ತ್ರಯೋದಸಿಯು ದಕ್ಷಿಣಾ-

Stone lying in the prākāra of the Lōkanāthēśvara temple

Circa 9th century

This damaged epigraph, seems to record the remission of half of the taxes due to the nakara of Purigere from the merchant body (seṭṭi-paḷḷi ?). It refers to the rule of puḷinnarasa.
