PRĀTAKŌṬA, NANDIKOTAKUR TALUK, KURNOOL DISTRICT

Slab set up in the compound of the Nāgēśvarasvāmin temple

971 A.D.

This record states that Mādhayya had a temple with a gōpura and tōraṇa constructed for god Mādhavēśvara-bhaṭāra.

It is dated the cyclic year Prajōtpatti, śu. 10, Monday, Chittā- nakshatra. On palaeographical grounds the record may be assigned to the 10th century in which case these details regularly correspond to 971 A, D., June 29, Monday, f.d.t. .47 and f.d.n. .04. The month would be Āshāḍha. It gives further details of date, viz., Śiva-yōga, Kauḷa-karaṇa and Siṁga-lagna, Bṛihaspati in Udaya.

3 ಚಿತ್ತನಕ್ಷತ್ರಮುಂ ಶಿವಮೆಮ್ಬ ಯೋಗಮುಂ

4 ಕಾಳಮೇಂಮ್ಮ ಕರಣಮು ಸಿಂಗಲಗ್ನಮು ಬೃ-

5 ಹಸ್ಪತಿ ಉದಯದೊಳು ಮಾಧವಯ್ಯ

6 ಮಾಧವೇಶ್ವರಭಟ್ಟಙ್ಗಿ ಗೋಪುರ ಸಹಿ-

7 ತಮಾಗಿರೆ ದೇಗುಲಮು ತೋರಣಮುಂ

8 ನಿಱಿಸಿದ ಧರ್ಮ್ಮದಮೇರು ಈಶ್ವರದಾಸು

9 ಯಾವತ್ತಿಷ್ಠನ್ತಿ ಚನ್ದ್ರಾರ್ಕ್ಕ ಯಾವತ್ತಿಷ್ಠನ್ತಿ ಮೇದಿನಿ

10 ಯಾವದ್ಧರ್ಮ ಕಥಾಲೋಕೆ ತಾವತ್ತಿಷ್ಠನ್ತಿ ತೋರಣಂ
