BŌḌINĀYANIPALLE, PUNGANUR TALUK, CHITTOOR DISTRICT
Hero-stone (No. 7) set up in a field to the west of the village
Circa 10th century
This record registers a gift of land under the tank called the
Baḍaṅgāni-kere, by the king and the ūru of Maṅgala in memory of a
hero whose name is not clear, who died during a cattle-raid. It states
that Vajradēva was ruling over puli-nāḍu.

2 ಹಂಗಿಲಯ ತೊಱುಗೊಳಳಂ ಸತ್ತಂ |
3 ಮಂಗಲದೊಳು ಅರಸುಲುರು ಇಱ್ದು ಕಲ್ನಾಡುಮ್ |
4 ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟೊದು ಬಡಂಗಾನಿಕೆಱೆ |
5 ಯ ಕೆಱಗೆ ಪಡಿಕೊಳ ಗೞನಿ |

This badly damaged record seems to register the death of an
individual during a cattle-raid. Māchemarāja set up the stone.
