MUNDKŪRU, MANGALORE TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab set up in the outer prākāra of Mahāliṇgēśvar temple

1298 A.D.

This damaged record, in characters of about the 13th century, is dated the cyclic year Vijaya, Mēsha 26, Sunday, probably corresponding to 1293 A.D., April 19.

It refers toa gift, details of which are lost, probably made over to the sthānapati of the Lōkēśvara temple. The tenants and the nāḍavaru are stated to have set up bammottiyakallu which may be the same as the stone on which this record is inscribed. It refers to a king, probably a local chief of the Sōma-kula.
