Mahishāsuramardini temple

1400 A.D

This record assignable on palaeographical grounds to the 15th century is dated the cyclic year Vikrama, Chaitra ba. 30, Friday, solar eclipse. The given details correspond regularly to 1400 A.D., March 26, when the month was Adhika Chaitra.

The inscription records the renovation of the temple of Durggādēvī by the sixteen of the village headed by Bayiraṇṇa and registers a gift of specified quantities of rice for the daily worship of and offerings to the goddess for the merit of Mahāpradhāna Īrugappa-daṇṇāyaka.
