TEXT OF INSCRIPTIONS

(A. R. No. 538 of 1929-30)

BAINDUūRU, COONDAPUR TAULK SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab set up in the inner prākāra of Sayanēśvara temple

Bukka I, 1359 A.D.

This badly damaged record is dated Śaka 1282, Vikāri, Kārttika śu. 1, Sunday, the Śaka year being current. The tithi corresponds to 1359 A.D., October 23 when the weekday was Wednesday. If, however, the cyclic year is a mistake for Śārvari the details regularly correspond to 1360 A.D., October 11.

The record registers gift of lands and coconut garden to god Sēnēśvaradēva of Bayidūru. after purchase, by Chika Maleya-deṇṇāyaka, younger brother of Mahāpradhāna Maleya-daṇṇāyaka who was governing Bārakūru-rājya.

1 ನಮಸ್ತುಂಗ ಸಿರಚುಂಬಿ ಚಂದ್ರಚಾಮರ[ಚಾರ*]ವೇ ತ್ರಯಿಲೋಕ್ಯ ನಗರಾರಂಭ
............ಮೂಲಸ್ತಂಭಾಯ ಶಂಭವೇ | ಸ್ವಸ್ತಿಶ್ರೀ ಜಯಾಭ್ವದಯ ಶಕವರು –

2 [ಷ] 1282 ವಿಕಾರಿಸಂವತ್ಸರದ ಕಾರ್ತ್ತಿಕ ಸು 1 ಆ ದಂದು
............ಶ್ರೀ ಮನುಮಹಾಮಂಡಳೇಶ್ವರಂ ಅರಿರಾಯ ವಿಭಾಡ ಭಾಷೆಗೆ ತಪ್ಪುವರಾಯರಗಂಡ

3 ಶ್ರೀ ಬುಕಂಣವೊಡೆಯರ ವಿಜಯ ರಾಜ್ಯಾಭ್ಯುದಯದಲು ಆ ಬುಕಂಣ ವೊಡೆಯರ
............ನಿಯಾಮದಿಂ ಶ್ರೀ ಮನುಮಹಾಪ್ರಧಾನಂ ಮಲೆಯ ದಂಣಾ –

4 ಯ್ಕರು ಬಾರಕೂರ ರಾಜ್ಯವನಾಳುವಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ತಂಮಂದಿರು ಚಿಕಮಲೆಯ
