TEXT OF INSCRIPTIONS

(A. R. No. 546 of 1929-30)

PADUVARI, COONDAPOOR TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab set up in a field about three furlongs to the south-west of
Roman-Catholic church

Bukka I, 1360 A.D.

This damaged record registers gifts of lands to several brahmins of Virūpākshapura probably by Virupaṇṇa-voḍeya, when mahāpradhāna Maleya-daṇṇāyaka was governing Bārakūru-rājya.

It is dated Śaka 1282, Vikāri, Kārttika śu. 1, Sunday. The cyclic year Vikāri corresponded with Śaka 1281 when the tithi occurred on Wednesday October 23 of 1359 A.D. But in the next year. Śaka 1282, Śārvarī, the details regularly correspond to 1360 A.D. October 11. Which might be the intended date.

1 ನಮಸ್ತುಂಗ ಸಿರಚ್ಯುಂಬಿ ಚಂದ್ರ[ಚಾ]ಮರ ಚಾರವೇ ತ್ರಯಿಲೋಕ್ಯ

2 ನಗರಾರಂಭ ಮೂಲಸ್ತಂಭಾಯ ಶಂಭವೇ || ಶ್ರೀ || ಸ್ವಸ್ತಿಶ್ರೀ ಜಯಾಭ್ಯು –

3 ದಯ ಶಕವರುಷ 1282 ವಿ[ಕಾರಿ] ಸಂವತ್ಸರದ ಕಾರ್ತ್ತಿಕ ಶು 1 ಆ

4 ಲು ಶ್ರೀಮನುಮಹಾಮಂಡಳೇಸ್ವರಂ ಅರಿರಾಯ ವಿಭಾಡ ಭಾಸೆ –

5 ಗೆ ದಪ್ಪುವರಾಯರಗಂಡ ಶ್ರೀ ವೀರ ಬುಕಂಣ ವೊಡೆಯರ ವಿ –

6 ಜಯರಾಜ್ಯಾಭ್ಯುದಯದಲು ಆ ಬುಕಂಣವೊಡೆಯರ ನಿರೂ –

7 ಪದಿಂ ಶ್ರೀ ಮನುಮಹಾಪ್ರಧಾನಂ ಮಲೆಯದಂಣಾಯ್ಕರು ಬಾರಕೂ –

8 ರ ರಾಜ್ಯವನಾಳುವಲ್ಲಿ [ಭಟ್ಟನ] ಬಯಿದೊರಲು ವಿರುಪಂಣ ವೊಡೆಯ

13 ತೋಡಿ ನಾಗರದಿಂದಂ ಪಡುವಲು ತೆಂಕಲು ಹೊಳೆಯಿಂದ ಬ –

14 ಡಗಲು ಪಡುವಲು ಅಣುವೆಯಿಂದಂ ಮೂಡಲು ಬಡಗಲು .
