BAINDŪRU, COONDAPOOR TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab set up in a field behind the Bazar street

Bukka I, 1364 A.D.

This badly damaged record registers a gift of lands and coconut- garden, for feeding brāhmaṇas in the maṭha attached to Narasiṁhadēva temple, by Chikka-Maley-daṇṇāyaka younger brother of mahāmaṇḍalēśvara Maleya-daṇṇāyaka. The latter was governing Bārakūru-rājya. The gift was left in-charge of Viṭhala-hebāra, son of Nāraṇa hebāra of Naḍumane.

It is [Śaka 1286], Krōdhi, Kārttika śu. 11, Sunday. The Śaka year was current. The details are irregular as the tithi corresponds to 1364 A.D., November 6, when the weekday was Wednesday. If, however, the cyclic year is a mistake for Viśvāvasu, the other details would regularly correspond to 1365 A.D., October 26.
