EPIGRAPHIA INDICA

3.─Mr. Venkayya in Madras Christian College Magazine of March 1892 ; at Tiruvaṇṇâmalai. Vîra-Viruppaṇṇa-Uḍaiyar, the son of Hariyappa-Uḍaiyar. Śaka-Saṁvat 1310, Vibhava.

4.─No. 114 of 1897 ; at Kôliyanûr. Vi[ru]ppaṇa-Uḍaiyar, the son of Hariyaṇa-Uḍaiyar. Śaka-Saṁvat 1 . . ., Vi[bha]va.

5.─No. 112 of 1900 ; at Śeṅgama. Viruppaṇṇa-Uḍaiyar, the son of Hariyaṇṇa-Uḍaiyar- Śakâbdam 131[8] n mêṛ=che[llâ*]ninṛa [Dh]âtu-saṁvatsarattu Mêsha-nâyaṛṛu pûrvva-pakshattu pañchamiyum Tiruvâdiraiyum perra Guruvâra-nâḷ

“ For Śaka-Saṁvat 1318 expired = Dhâtu (Dhâtṛi) the date regularly corresponds to Thursday, the 13th April A.D. 1398, which was the 19th day of the month of Mêsha and when the 5th tithi of the bright half ended 7 h. 35 m., and the nakshtra was Ârdrâ, by the equal space system for 11 h. 50 m., after mean sunrise.”─ F. K. To the time of Bukka II., the second son of Harihara II., belong the following six inscriptions.

1.─No. 41 of 1890 ; at Tirupparuttikkunru. Bukkarâja, the son of Arihararâja. Dundubhivarsham Kât[tig]ai-[m]âdatt[i]l pûrvva-pakshattu=Ti[i]ṅgaṭ-kilamaiyum paurṇaiyum perra ()tti[i]gai-nâḷ.

“ This date is irregular. For Śaka-Saṁvat 1304 expired = Dundubhi it would correspond to Friday, the 21st November A.D. 1382, with the nakshatra Rôhiṇî. It would be incorrect also for the lunar month Kârttika of the same year, and for the Śaka years 1303 and 1305 expired.”─ F. K.

2.─No. 11 of 1900 ; at Kambayanallûr. Immaḍi-Bukkarâya (i.e. ‘ Bukka the second ’), the son of Hararâya (i.e. Harihara II.) and grandson of Bukkaṇṇa-Uḍaiyar (i.e. Bukka I.). Kshaya-varushattu Paṅgun[i]-mâdam mudal t[i]yadi pûruva-pakshattu Uttiraṭṭâd[i]yum perra nâḷ.

“ This date also is irregular. For Śaka-Saṁvat 1308 expired = Kshaya the first day of the month of Paṅguni (or Mîna) would correspond to either the 24th or the 25th February A.D. 1387, but on the former of these two days (which both fell in bright half) the nakshatras word Kṛittikâ and Rôhiṇî (Nos. 3 and 4) and on the latter Rôhiṇî and Mṛigaśîrsha (Nos. 4 and 5), not Uttara-Bhadrapadâ (No. 26).”─ F. K.

3.─No. 12 of 1893 ; at Kâñchî. Vîra-Pratâpa-Bukkarâya-mah[â]râ[ya]. Śakâbdam 1328 n mâl śellâ[n]inra Veya-saṁvarsarattu Mêsha-nâyarru pûruva-pakshattu śatta[m]iyum Śukkiravâramum perra Tiruvâdirai-nâḷ.

“ This date for Śaka-Saṁvat 1328 expired = Vyaya clearly corresponds to Friday, the 26th March A.D. 1408, which was the day of the Mêsha-saṁkrânti (that took place 17 h. 25 m after mean sunrise[1]), and on which the 7th tithi of the bright half ended 16 h. 30 m., and the nakshatra was Ârdrâ, by the equal space system for 8 h. 32 m., after mean sunrise.”─ F. K.

4.─Ep. Carn. Vol. III., Md. 28 ; at Vaidyanâthapura. Bukkarâya, the son of Harihara mahârâya. Śaka-varusha 132[8] neya Bya(vya)ya-saṁvatsarada Jêshṭha-śu 5 Gu.[2] “ This date is irregular. For Śaka-Saṁvat 1328 expired = Vyaya it would corresponded to Saturday, the 22nd May A.D. 1406, when the 5th tithi of the bright half of Jyaishṭha ended 13 h. 53 m. after mean sunrise.”─ F. K.

5.─ South-Ind. Inscr. Vol. I. No. 55 ; at Vêppambaṭṭu. Vîra-Pratâpa-Bukkamahârâya Śakâbdam 132[8] n mêl śellâninṛa Pârttiva-saṁvatsarattukku=chchellum Viya-saṁvatsarada Jêshṭa-bahuḷa-amâvâsyaiyum Viyâla-kkilamaiyum perra nâḷ.[3]
