INSCRIPTIONS OF THE KALACHURIS OF RATANPUR

bably because it was current at the time of the issue of the plates. There was a lunar eclipse on the preceding Kārttika pūrṇimā (the 19th October 1138 A. C.), as stated in the present grant.

There is only one place-name mentioned in this record, .viȥ., the village Budukunī which was granted to the Brāhmaṇa. It is evidently identical with Daikōni where the plates were found. The old place-name has lost its first syllable in course of time. Budukunī was situated in the Madhyadēśa which was probably identical with the Madhyamaṇḍala mentioned in both the sets of the Amōdā plates issued by this very Pṛithvīdēva some years later.
