No. 83
(A. R. No. 341 of 1940-41)
PEDDAPASUPULA, JAMMALAMADUGU TALUK, CUDDAPAH DISTRICT
Slab in Survey No. 1033, 2-½ miles to the south of the village
Dēvarāya I, 1383 A.D.
This slightly worn out record registers a gift of land situated in
the village Hiriya-Pasupula in Mulike-nāḍu and bordering the village
Dānavanahāḷu, by Vīra Dēvarāya oḍeya to Rāyasada Viṭhappa, son
of karaṇika Adeppa of Kāśyapa-gōtra and Ṛik-śākha.
It is dated Śaka 1304 (expressed in words), Māgha ba. 30,
Monday, solar eclipse corresponding to 1383 A.D.. February 2. But the eclipse did not occur on that day. However, this date is too early
for Dēvarāya I. If we surmise that the year is a mistake for Śaka
1364 then the other given details do not tally, the tithi occurring on
Thursday, January 31 of 1443 A.D. falling in the reign period of
Dēvarāya II when the eclipse also did not occur. It may be perhaps a
gift made by Dēvarāya I as a prince while Harihara II was ruling.
