ಮವಾಪ್ನೋತಿ ಪಾಲನಾದ –

PADUVARI, COONDAPOOR TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab set up in the field about two furlongs to the east of the road leading to the Sōmēśvara temple

[Dēvarāya I], 1419 A.D.

This badly damaged record seems to register a gift to a maṭha. It refers to a mahāpradhāna who was governing Bārakūru-rājya. The details are lost.

The record is dated the cyclic year Vikāri, Śrāvaṇa śu. 1, Sunday, the Śaka year being lost. On palaeographical grounds the record may be assigned to the 15th century when the given details correspond to 1419 A.D., July 23 which might be the intended date. The then ruling king was Dēvarāya I, to whose reign the record may be assigned.
