VIRIÑCHIPURAM, VELLORE TALUK, NORTH ARCOT DISTRICT

Inner side of the gōpura at the entrance to the first prākāra in the
Mārgasahāyēśvara temple.

Dēvarāya II, 1430 A.D.

This badly damaged record refers to that gift of money-income from taxes like jōḍi and śūlavari, for worship and offerings in temple of Mārgasahāyadēva, by the king. It also refers to another gift probably made by Vijayarāya-mahārāya, to Ādityadēva-perunaṁbi, son of Kaṇṇa-naṁbi of Hārita-gōtra and Bōdhāyana-sūtra, and Nāgaṇṇa- dīkshita of Ātrēya-gōtra and Kātyāyana-sūtra, on the second date.

There are two dates in the record. The first is Śaka 1352, Sādhāraṇa, Vaiśākha śu. 5, Wednesday corresponding to 1430 A.D., April 26, Wednesday, f.d.t. .90. The second date is the same cyclic year, Sādhāraṇa, obviously of Śaka 1352, Vaiśākha śu. 15, Monday regularly corresponding to 1430 A.D., May 8.
