TEXT OF INSCRIPTIONS

28 ಸರ್ವ್ವಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಧಾರೆಯನೆಱದು ಕೊಟ್ಟೆವಾಗಿ ನಿಉನಿಂಮ ಪುತ್ರ ಪೌತ್ರಕವಾಗಿ

29 ಸುಖದಿಂದ ಆ ಚಂದ್ರಾರ್ಕ್ಕಸ್ಥಾಯಿಗಳಾಗಿ ಭೋಗಿಸಿ ಬರುತ್ತ ಬಹಿರಿ ಎಂದು
ಕೊಟ್ಟಶಾಸನ¹ ಚಂದಪ್ಪನ ಬರ .

30 ಯಿ ಬಾಳಿನ ಸಿದಾಯಕೆ ಊ . ಯಿ ಕವಿ ಶಂಕರ ಭಟ್ಟರು ನಿಂಮ್ಮ
ಸ್ವಾಂಮ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಗ್ರಾಮದವರು ಆ ಶಂ –

31 ಕರಭಟ್ಟರೂ | ಶಿವಪುರದ ಗ್ರಾಮದವರು ಒಪ್ಪ ಶ್ರೀ ಶಂಕರ ದೇವರು ||

PUTTŪRU, PUTTUR TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab set up in the Mahāliṅgēśvarasvāmin temple

Dēvarāya II, 1431 A.D.

This is dated Śaka 1353, Virōdhikrit, Marggaśira, śu. 5, Sunday. The tithi corresponds to 1431 A.D., November 10, the weekday being Saturday and not Sunday.

It registers gifts of lands, oil, money etc., to god Mahādēva of Puttūru, by Aṇṇappa, the two hundred parivāra, the four nāyakavāḍi and several other individuals, for worship and offerings in the temple and feeding brāhmaṇas in the occasion of the visit of the preceptor Kriyāśaktidēva to Puttūr when Aṇṇappa, son of Dēvarāja was governing Maṅgalūru-rājya at the instance of pradhāna Hariyappa- voḍeya. It states that Puttūr was in the jurisdiction of Pāḍayappa-arasa alias Baṅga.
