TEXT OF INSCRIPTIONS

16 ದವೆ ನಡಸೂದು ಯಿಟ್ಟಲ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ವೊಂದು ನಂದಾಬೆಳಕನು ಮಾಟರಾಡಿ –

17 ಯ ಆತ್ರಪಾಡಿಯ ಮೂಲದಿಂದಲು ನಡಸುವನು ಯಿ ಧಂರ್ಮಗಳನು

18 ಆಚಂದ್ರಾರ್ಕಸ್ಥಾಯಿಯಾಗಿ ನಡಸುವರು ಯಿ ಧಂರ್ಮಕೆ ಆರೊಬ್ಬರು

19 ತಪ್ಪಿ ಅಳಿಪಿದರೆ ವಾರಣಾಸಿಯಲು ಯೆಳುನೂರು ಕವಿಲೆಯ

20 ವಧಿಸಿದ ದೋಷ ಯಿ ಸಾವಿರದ ಹದಿನಾಲ್ಕು ಮಂದಿ ಬ್ರಾಂಹ್ಮರ ವಾರ –

21 ಣಾಸಿಯಲು ಕೊ[೦]ದವರು ತಂಮ ಮಾತಾ ಪಿತ್ರುಗಳನು ನರಕದಲಿ-

22 ಕಿದ್ದವರು || ಸ್ವದತ್ತಂ ಪರದತ್ತಂ ವಾ ಯೋ ಹರೇತು ವಸುಂಧರಾ[|*] ಷಷ್ಟಿರ್ವ್ವ-

23 ರುಷ ಸಹಶ್ರಾಣಿ ವಿಷ್ಟಾಯಾಂ ಜಾಯತೇಕ್ರಮಿ ||

SĀLIGRAMA, UDIPI TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab set up in the prākāra of the Narasiṁhamūrti temple

Virūpāksha, 1469 A.D.

This record is dated Śaka 1390 (expired), 1391 (current), Sarvadhāri, Chaitra śu. 15, Monday. The Śaka year 1391 corresponds to the cyclic year Virōdhin and the details correspond to 1469, A.D., March 27.

It states that when Viṭhrasa-voḍeya was administering Bārakūru- rājya under the orders of the king, the latter granted 250 kāṭi-gadyāṇa while Viṭhrasa-voḍeya granted 500 kāṭi-gadyāṇa amounting in all to 300 ghaṭi-varāha-gadyāṇa from out of the siddhāya tax due from the village Kōṭa which is described as the bhaṇḍāra-sthala of the royal place, at the request of the sixteen adhivāsis. Ten-thousand Mahājagattu and Voppuva-hegaḍe of Kōṭa, to the people of Kōṭa, for the merit of the king.
