HOSĀḶA, UDIPI TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab lying in the Jōgi-maṇḍapa at Chauḷikēri

..Virūpāksha, 1477 A.D.

This record is dated Śaka 1399 (Śaka 1400 current), Hēvaḷaṁbi, Chaitra śu. 1, (Sunday), corresponding to 1477 A.D., March 16.

It registers a gift of money (and paddy ?) to the temple of Bhairavadēva built by Ayivara [Kōṭinātha] - seṭṭi, son-in-law of Bīraṇa- seṭṭi in the maṭha of Anupamanātha-voḍeya, for offerings and burning a perpetual lamp therein, by three seṭṭis whose names, however, are not clear. It states that Paṇḍarudēva-oḍeya, son of [Vithappa]-Voḍeya, was governing Bārakūru-rājya under the orders of Siṅgaṇa-daṇāyaka who is stated to have been governing the country at the instance of the king.
