TEXT OF INSCRIPTIONS

(A. R. No. 598 of 1929-30)

HANDĀḌI, UDIPI TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab set up in the prākāra of Heggaḍe Gōpālakṛishṇa temple

Immaḍi Narasiṁha, 1492 A.D.

This is dated Śaka 1414, Paridhāvi, Vaiśākha śu. 15, Friday corresponding to 1492 A.D., May 11, Friday, f.d.t. .16. The month was Nija-Vaiśākha.

It registers a gift of 200 gadyānas of gold for the expenses of śrībali service in the temple of Gōpīnātha by Honnakaḷasarāya, son of Triyambakarāya while he was governing Bārakūru-rājya. The temple was caused to be built by Saṁku-heggaḍe, nephew (aḷiya) of Hosabaṇṇa-seṭṭi, in Haṁdāḍi, an adhivāsa of the village Brahmūru (cf. Further sources : Vol I, p. 149, Appendix).

1 ಶ್ರೀ ಗಣಾಧಿಪತಯೇಂ ನಮಃ[|*] ಶ್ರೀ ಸರಸ್ವತ್ಯೈ ನಮಃ[|*] ಶ್ರೀ ಗುರುಭ್ಯೋಂ

2 ಸ್ತು [||*] ನಮಸ್ತುಂಗ ಶಿರಶ್ಚುಂಬಿ ಚಂದ್ರಚಾಮರ ಚಾರವೇ [|*] ತ್ರಯಿಲೋಕ್ಯ
............ನಗರಾರಂಭ ಮೂಲಸ್ತಂಭಾಯ ಶಂಭವೇ [||*]
