TEXT OF INSCRIPTIONS

(A. R. No. 515 of 1928-29)

SĀLIGRAMA, UDIPI TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab (No. 2) set up in the prākāra of Narasiṁhamūrti temple

Kṛishṇadēvarāya, 1520 A.D.

This record is dated Śaka 1442 (expired), (1443 current), Vikrama, Chaitra śu. 2, Monday. Barring the weekday which was Tuesday, the other details correspond to 1520 A.D., March 20.

This record, the bottom of which is built in, states that when Vijayappa-voḍeya, son of Ratnappa-voḍeya was governing Bārakūru- rājya, under the orders of the king, the latter made a gift of money to the people of Kōṭa, from out of the siddhāya tax collected from that village which is referred to as the bhaṇḍāra-sthaḷa of the royal palace.

1 ಸ್ವಸ್ತಿಶ್ರೀ ಗಣಾಧಿಪತಯೇಂ ನಮಃ[*] ನಿರ್ವಿಘ್ನಮಸ್ತು [|*] ನಮಸ್ತುಂಗ ಶಿರಶ್ಚುಂಬಿ

2 ಚಂದ್ರಾಚಾಮರ ಚಾರವೇ [|*] ತ್ರೈಲೋಕ್ಯ ನಗರಾರಂಭ ಮೂಲಸ್ತಂಭಾಯ ಶಂ-

3 ಭವೇ[||*] ಸ್ವಸ್ತಿಶ್ರೀ ಜಯಾಭ್ಯುದಯ ಶಾಲಿವಾಹನಶಕ ವರುಷ 1442 ಸಂ-

4 ದು ಮೂಱೆನೆ[ಯ] ವರ್ತ್ತಮಾನದ ವಿಕ್ರಮ ಸಂವತ್ಸರದ ಚೆಯಿತ್ರ ಶುಧ 2

5 ಸೋಮಲು ಶ್ರೀ ಮನು ಮಹಾರಾಜಾಧಿರಾಜ ರಾಜಪರಮೇಶ್ವರ ಶ್ರೀ ವೀರ ಪ್ರ-

6 ತಾಪ ಶ್ರೀ ವೀರ ಕ್ರುಷ್ಣರಾಯ ಮಹಾರಾಯರು ವಿಜಯನಗರಿಯ

7 ಸಿಂಹಾಸನದಲೂ ಚಿತ್ತುಯಿಸಿ ದುಷ್ಟನಿಗ್ರಹ ಶಿಷ್ಟಪ್ರತಿಪಾಲಕನಾಗಿ ಸಕಲ

8 ವಂರ್ನ[ಧಂರ್ಮಾ]ಶ್ರಯಂಗಳನೂ ಪ್ರತಿಪಾಲಿಸುತಂ ಯಿಹಲ್ಲಿ ಆ ಕ್ರಷ್ಣರಾಯ-

9 ಮಹಾರಾಯರ ನಿರೂಪದಿಂದ ಬಾರಕೂರ ರಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು ರತ್ನಪ್ಪ ವೊಡೆಯರ

10 ಕು[ಮಾರ] ವಿಜಯಪ್ಪ ವೊಡೆಯರು ಆಳುವ ಕಾಲದಲೂ ಆ ರಾಯರಿಗೆ ಶ-

11 ತ್ರು[ಕ್ಷಯ] ಮಿತ್ರೋರ್ಜಿತ ಆಯುರಾರೋಗ್ಯ ಅಯಿಶ್ವರ್ಯಾಭಿಉ್ರದ್ಧಿಯಾಗ
............ಬೇಕೆಂ-

12 ದು ಕ್ರುಷ್ಣರಾಯ ಮಹಾರಾಯರು ಕೋಟದ ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಹತ್ತುಸಾವಿರ ಮ

13 ಹಾಜಗತ್ತಿಗೆ ಧಂರ್ಮ್ಮವಾಗಿ ಬರಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟ ಧಂರ್ಮ್ಮಶಾಸನ ಕ್ರಮವೆಂ-

14 ತೆಂದರೆ ನೆಂಮ ಅರಮನೆಯ ಭಂಡಾರಸ್ಥಳದ ಕೋಟದ ಗ್ರಾಮದ-

15 ಲೂ ಅರಮನೆಗೆ ನೀಉ ತೆತ್ತು ಬಹ ಸಿದ್ಧಾಯದ ಹೊಂನಿನ ವೊಳಗೆ

16 ನೀಉ ವಿಜಯನಗರಿಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ನಿವಗೆ ಕಳುವಕಡಿದು ಧಾರೆ

17 ನೆಱದು ಕೊಟ ಕಾಟಿಗ¹
