TEXT OF INSCRIPTIONS

(A. R. No. 81 of 1944-45)

RĀJĀPUR, HOSPET TALUK, BELLARY DISTRICT

Slab built into the culvert (underneath) near the 7th furlong stone of
the 11th mile on the way to Hospet from Rāmagaḍ

Kṛishṇadēvarāya, 1523 A.D.

This fragmentary record in Sanskrit verse, registers a gift to a temple of god Rāma who is invoked in the beginning Refers to the queen Nāgalādevī.

It is dated Śaka 1[4]45, expressed by the chronogram pushpa- vachchhara-samudra-śaya-Ī śa, Suchi (i.e. Āshāḍha) śu. 12, corresponding to 1523 A.D., June 24. But in the absence of the cyclic year and the weekday these details cannot be verified.

1 ಸ್ವಸ್ತಿ ಜಿತಂ ಭಗವತಾ ಜಗದಭಿರಾಮೇಣ ದಾಶರಥಿನಾರಾಯೇಣ || ರಕ್ಷತಾನ್ನಕ್ಷಃ

2 . . ಯದ್ಬಾಣಾಗಿಕಣೇ ಜಾತಾಪಲಾಶ ತತಿರಾಹಿತಿಃ || ಭದ್ರಮಸ್ತು ವಿಜ[ಯ] .

3 . . ನಶ[ಕೇ]ನ ವಿತೋಬ್ದಿಃ || ಪುಷ್ಪವಚ್ಛರ ಸಮುಸ್ರ ಶಯೇಶೈರ್ದ್ಧರ್ಮಸ .

4 . . ಶುಚಿ ಮಾಸಿ ಶುಕ್ಲಾಯಾಂ ದ್ವಾದಶೀ ತಿಥೌ || ಪುಣ್ಯರ್ಷೇ ಪುಣ್ಯಯೋಗೇಚ
............ಕರಣೇಚ ಶು . .

5 . [ಮಾ]ನೀಶ್ವರ ಭೂಪತೇಃ || ಪಾತ್ರಶ್ರೀನರಸಕ್ಷೋಣೀ ನಾಯಕಸ್ವಾರಸಃ ಸುತಃ ||
............ಕೃ[ಷ್ಣ]ದೇವ ಮಹಾರಾ[ಯೋ] .

6 . . [ಕ]ಮೇಶಾನೋ ಭಾಸ್ವದ್ವೀರಪ್ರತಾಪವಾನ್ || ವರಾಧಿಪೋಮಹೀಂ ಶಾಸ[ತ್]
............ಪ್ರಾಕಾರಾದ್ಯುಪಶೋಭಿತೇ || ಸ್ವಯ . .
