KACHCHŪRU, (KŌṬAKĒRI) UDIPI TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Broken slab (No. 5) lying near hōma-kunḍa in the Pañchaliṅgēśvara
temple

Kṛishṇadēvarāya, 1523 A.D.

This fragmentary record is dated Śaka 1445, Bhādrapada śu. 15, Tuesday. The cyclic year is lost. But in the given Śaka year the details regularly correspond to 1523 A.D., August 25, Tuesday, f.d.t. .06. the cyclic year was Subhānu.

It refers to Viṭharasa-voḍeya, son of karaṇika Lakshmīnārāya[ṇa- voḍeya*] as governing Bārakūru-rājya.

BAINDŪR, COONDAPOOR TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab set up in the outer prākāra of Śayanēśvara temple

Kṛishṇadēvarāya, 1524 A.D.

This is dated Śaka 1445, Chitrabhānu, Māgha śu. 5 corresponding to 1523 A.D., January 22, the Śaka year being current. The details cannot, however, be verified. In the earlier portion in Sanskrit the date is referred to by the chronogram Tavabhaṭa, which according to the Kaṭapāyādi system would work out to 1446 of the Śaka era, the cyclic year being Svabhānu, corresponding to 1523-24 A.D.
