SURĀLA, UDIPI TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab (No. 6) standing in the Mahāliṅgēśvara temple

Sadāśivarāya, 1563 A.D.

This damaged record registers a gift of lands for worship and offerings in the temple of Mahāliṅgadēva of Sūrāla, by Chenaya-arasa Toḷaha, when Sadāśivarāyanāyaka of Keḷadi was governing the country by the command of the king, who is referred to herein mahāmaṇḍalēśvara.

The extant portion of the record refers to Śaka 1485, Rudhirōdgāri, Kārttika, the other details being lost. The day falls sometime in the months of October-November, 1563 A.D.
