YEḌATĀḌI, UDIPI TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab standing in the field of Subbaka-seṭṭiti

Sadāśivarāya, 1565 A.D.

This registers a gift of land to a maṭha and the deity Umāmahēśvara installed therein by Baṁchaṇṇa Heggaḍe alias Kōṭa Ādi of Yedatāḍi, when Sadāśivanāyaka of Keḷadi was governing Bārakūru- rājya. Dēśikaṇa-hebbāra was appointed to stay in the maṭha and look after the endowments.

The record is dated Śaka 1487, Raktākshi, Phālguṇa ba. 14, Monday, Śīvarātri. The details of date given are wrong. The tithi corresponds to 1565 A.D., March 1 when the weekday was Thursday. The Śivarātri occurred on Māgha ba. 14 which tithi fell on Wednesday, January 31 of that year. The Śaka year was current.
