KUṄKANURU, PATIKONDA TALUK, KURNOOL DISTRICT

Slab set up in the Rāmaliṅgēśvara temple

Bhūlōkamalla, 1129 A.D. (Sōmēśvara III)

This record refers itself to the reign of Bhūlōkamalla ruling from Jayantīpura and registers grants of lands, flower-garden, and oil- mill by mahāmaṇḍalēśvara Sakaradēva-Chōḷa-mahārāja, son of Bhīmadēva, and manneya Mācharasa for the worship of and offerings to god Rāmēśvara of the ghaṭkāsthānu Kukuvanūra situated in Sauḷu-70 of Naravāḍi-500 division. The grant was meant also for feeding the travellers. Sakaradēva-chōḷa-mahārāja bears the characteristic Telugu-Chōḷa praśasti commencing with Charaṇasarōruha etc.

The record is dated the 3rd year of the Chāḷukya-Vikrama era, Kīlaka, Kārttika śu. 10, Thursday. The era is, obviously, a mistake for the Bhūlōkamalla era. If the cyclic year Kīlaka quoted was a mistake for Saumya (which would be the king’s third regnal year) the details regularly correspond to 1129 A.D., October 24.

1 ಸ್ವಸ್ತಿ ಸಮಸ್ತಭುವನಾಸ್ರಯಂ

2 ಶ್ರೀ ಪ್ರಿಥ್ವೀವಲ್ಲಭಂ ಮಹಾರಾಜಾಧಿರಾಜ ಪರಮೇಶ್ವರಂ

3 ಪರಮಭಟ್ಟಾರಕಂ ಸತ್ಯಾಸ್ರಯ ಕುಳತಿಳಕಂ ಚಾಳುಕ್ಯಾಭರಣಂ

4 ಶ್ರೀ ಮತ್ಭೂಲೋಕಮಲ್ಲದೇವರ ವಿಜಯರಾಜ್ಯ ಮುತ್ತರೋತ್ತರಾಭಿವ್ರಿದ್ಧ ಪ್ರವ-

5 ರ್ದ್ಧಮಾನ ಮಾಚಂದ್ರಾರ್ಕ್ಕತಾರಂ ಜಯನ್ತೀಪುರದ ನೆಲೆವೀಡಿನೊಳು

6 ಸುಖಸಂಕತಾವಿನೋದದಿಂ ರಾಜ್ಯಂಗೆಯ್ಯುತ್ತಮಿರೆ ತತ್ವಾದ ಪದ್ಮೋಪಜೀವಿತರು ||
