VAḌḌARSĒ, ŪDIPI TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Piller set up in the inner, prākāra of Mahaliṅgēśvara temple

Aḷupēndra alias Oḍḍamarāja 1235 A.D.

This badly damaged record seems to refer to the reign of Oḍḍamarā . . . . Vallabhāḷupa, the Āḷupa king. It states that Dēvara Mukkaṇṇoḍeya was administering Oḍḍarase when a gift of fifty gadyāṇas was made probably to a deity. The details are, however, lost.

It is dated in the cyclic year Manmatha, Kanne (Kānyā) 13, Monday. On palaeographical grounds the record can be assigned to the 13th century and the details equated to 1235 A.D., September 10, which appears to be the intended date.
