No. 205

(A. R. No. 509 of 1928-29)

KŌṬE, UDIPI TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab (No. 3) set up in the prākāra of Mahāliṅgēśvara temple

Vīra-Pāṇḍyadēva, 1254 A.D.

This record, which is slightly damaged at the end, seems to register a gift of money by the One-thousand of Koṭa and Maydu- verggaḍe, probably to a religious teacher, in the presence of aḷiya Baṅkidēva, mayduna Oḍḍamadēva, Balla-verggaḍe and others who had assembled in the royal court at rājadhāni Bārahakanyāpura.

It is dated Śaka 1177, Ānanda, Bhādrapada ba. 30, Kanyā 10, Monday when Bṛihaspati was in Mithuna. The lunar tithi regularly corresponds to 1254 A.D., September 13 when the solar tithi was Kanyā 16. The Śaka year was current.
