TEXT OF INSCRIPTIONS

(A. R. No. 485 of 1928-29)

BRAHMAVARA, UDIPI TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab set up in the lumber room prākāra of the Mahāliṅgēśvara temple

Vīra-Pāṇḍyadēva, 1254 A.D.

This record is dated Śaka 1177, Ānanda, Āśvayuja śu. 15, Kanyā 30, Monday, Saṁkramaṇa, Jupiter in Mithuna, corresponding regularly to 1254 A.D., September 28. The Śaka year, however, was current.

The record states that when the king was holding assembly in his capital at Bārahakanyāpura, it was stipulated in the presence of his nephew (aḷiya) Baṅkidēva, brother-in law (mayduna) Voḍḍamadēva, Ballaveggaḍe and other ministers and preceptors (purōhita) that the mahājanas of Brahmavura should pay 700 gadyāṇas to the king once in three years as tidduva-samudāya.

TEXT

1 ಶ್ರೀ ಗಣಾಧಿಪತಯೇನಮಃ || ಸ್ವಸ್ತಿಶ್ರೀ ಮತು ಪಾಂಡ್ಯ ಚಕ್ರವ-

2 ರ್ತ್ತಿ[ಅರಿ]ರಾಯ ಗಜಕೇಸರಿ ಬೀರಪಾಂಡ್ಯ ದೇವಾಳ್ಪೇ-

3 ೦ದ್ರ ದೇವರಸರು ವಿಜಯರಾಜ್ಯ ಮುತ್ತರೋತ್ತರ ಪ್ರ-

4 ವರ್ದ್ಧಮಾನ ಮಾಚಂದ್ರಾರ್ಕ್ಕತಾರಂಬರಂ [ಸಲು]-

5 ತ್ತಮಿರ್ದ್ದ ಶಕವರುಷದ 1177ನೆಯ ಮಿಥುನದಲು ಬ್ರಿ-

6 ಹಸ್ಪತಿ ಯಿದ್ದರೆ ಆನಂದ ಸಂವತ್ಸರದ ಆಶ್ವಯು

7 ಜ ಸು 15 ಸೋ ಕಂನ್ಯಾಮಾಸ [30] ನೆಯ ಸಂಕ್ರ-

8 ಮಣ ಸೋಮವಾರದಂದು ಶ್ರೀಮತು ರಾಜಧಾನಿ ಬಾ-

9 ರಹಕಂನ್ಯಪುರದರ ಮನೆಯಲು ವಡ್ಡೋಲಗ-

10 ೦ಗೊಟ್ಟರೆ ಶ್ರೀಪಾದ ಸಂನಿಧಾನದಲು [ಅ]ಳಿ-

11 ಯ ಬಂಕಿದೇವ ಮಯ್ದುನ ವೊಡ್ಡಮದೇವ ಬ

12 ಲ್ಲವೆಗ್ಗಡೆ ಯಿಂತಿವರು ಮುಖ್ಯವಾದ ಸ-

13 ಮಸ್ತ ಪ್ರಧಾನರುಂ ಪುರೋಹಿತರುಂ ಇ-

14 ರೆ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಉರದ ನೂಱು [ಪಾ]ರ್ವ್ವರಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟಶಾಸನ ಕ್ರ

15 ಮವೆಂತೆಂದಡೆ ಅರಸಿಂಗೆ ವರಿಷ 3

16 ಕ್ಕೆ ತಿದ್ದುವ ಸಮುದಾಯ ಗ 700 ಯಿ ಮರಿ

17 ಯಾದೆಯ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿದಡೆ ಅರಸಿಂಗೆ ಉ

18 ಪ್ರಧಾನರಿಗೆಉ [ತಪ್ಪಿದವ*] ವಾರಣಾಸಿಯ ತಡಿಯಲು

19 ಸಾವಿರಕವಿಲೆಯ ಕೊಂದ ದೋಷ ||
