VARĀṄGA, KARKAL TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab set up in the southern verandah of outer prākāra of
Nēmīśvara basti

[Sōmēśvararāya? 1332-33 A.D.]

The badly damaged record refers to the rule of Śrī Sōmēśvararāya of Sōma-vaṁśa, bearing the epithets Paṇḍita-pāṇḍya, Pāṇḍya-dhanaṁjaya, Arirāya-Basavaśaṅkara etc. The king is identical with Sōyidēva.

It is dated Śaka 1[25]4, Āṅgira śu. 10, Thursday, the name of the month being lost. The year corresponds to 1332-33 A.D.
