TEXT OF INSCRIPTIONS

(A. R. No. 529 of 1929-30)

BAḌAGA KAJAKĀRU, MANGALORE TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab set up in the prākāra of the Mahādēva temple

Sadāśivarāya-nāyaka, 1522 A.D.

This record is dated the cyclic year [Dundubhi], Chaitra ba. 5, Wednesday. the details correspond to 1562 A.D., March 25 when Doḍḍa Saṅkaṇṇa was ruling.

It seems to refers to a stipulation by the chief of Keḷadi regarding the tax to be paid to him by the residents of the village. As the record is badly damaged, all details are lost. It refers to Baṅgaru and the karanikas of Maṅgalūru.
