TEXT OF INSCRIPTIONS

22 ಡಿ ದೇವರಾಜಪುರವೆಂದು ಅಭಿದಾನವಂಮಾಡಿ ನಾ-

23 ನಾಗೋತ್ರದ ನಾನಾಸೂತ್ರದ ನಾನಾಶಾಖೆಗಳಾದ ಸಕ-

24 ಲ ವಿದ್ಯಾಪಾರೀಣರಾದ ಪಾತ್ರಭೂತರಾದ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣೋತ್ತ-

25 ಮರಿಗೆ ಯೀ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾಉಮಾಡಿದ ಮಹಾದಾನಾಂತರದಲ್ಲಿ

26 ಸಹಿರಣ್ಯೋದಕ ದಾನಾಧಾರಾಪೂರ್ವ್ವಕವಾಗಿ ನಮಗೆ ಲ-

27 ಕ್ಷ್ಮೀನಾರಾಯಣನು ಸುಪ್ರೀತನಾಗಲಿಯೆಂದು ನಂಮ ಪಿತೃ-

28 ಗಳಿಗೆ ಅಕ್ಷಯ್ಯ ವಿಷ್ಣುಲೋಕವಾಗಲಿ ಯೆಂದು ಕೃಷ್ಣಾ-

29 ರ್ಪ್ಪಣ ಬುದ್ದಿಯಿಂದ ಸರ್ವ್ವಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಧಾರೆಯನೆರದು ಕೊ-

30 ಟ್ಟವಾಗಿ ಯೀ ಗ್ರಾಮಗಳು ನೀಉ ಪುತ್ರಪೌತ್ರ ಪಾರಂಪ-

31 ರ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಆಚಂದ್ರಾರ್ಕ್ಕಸ್ಥಾಯಿಯಾಗಿ ಸರ್ವ್ವಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಸು-

32 ಖದಿಂ ಅನುಭವಿಶಿಕೊಂಡು ಬರುವಿರಿ | ಈ ಗ್ರಾಮಗಳ ಚತು-

33 ಸ್ಸೀಮೆ ವೊಳಗಾದ ನಿಧ್ಯಾದ್ಯಷ್ಟಭೋಗ ಸ್ವಾಮ್ಯಗಳು ನಿಮಗೆ ಸಲುವ-

34 ದು ಈ ಗ್ರಾಮಗಳು ನೀಉ ಮಾಡುವ ದಾನಾದಿ ವ್ಯವಹಾರ [ಚತು]-

35 ಷ್ಟಯಗಳಿಗು ಸಲುವದು ಯೆಂದು ಕೊಟ್ಟ ವಿಂಣಪಗಳಿಗೆ ಪ್ರ-

36 ತಿನಾಮವಾದ ನಂಜನಗೂಡ ದೇವರಾಜಪುರದ ಶಿಲಾ-

37 ಶಾಸನಂ | ಏಕೈವ ಭಗಿನೀ ಲೋಕೇ ಸರ್ವ್ವೇಷಾಮೇವ ಭೂ-

38 ಭುಜಾಂ ನಭೋಜ್ಯಾ ನಕರ ಗ್ರಾಹ್ಯ ವಿಪ್ರದತ್ತಾ ವಸುಂ-

39 ಧರಾ | ಸ್ವದತ್ತಾಂ ಪರದತ್ತಾಂ ವಾ ಯೋ ಹರೇತಿ ವಸುಂಧ-

40 ರಾಂ | ಷಷ್ಠಿರ್ವರ್ಷ ಸಹಸ್ರಾಣಿ ವಿಷ್ಠಾಯಾಂ ಜಾಯತೇ ಕ್ರಿಮಿ [||*]

41 ದಾನಪಾಲನಯೋರ್ಮಧ್ಯೇ ದಾನಾಛ್ಛ್ರೇಯೋನು ಪಾಲನಂ

42 ದಾನಾತ್ಸ್ವರ್ಗಮವಾಪ್ನೋತಿ ಪಾಲನಾದಚ್ಯುತಂ ಪದಂ [||*]

ŚAṄKAGIRI, TIRUCHCHENGODU TALUK, SALEM DISTRICT

Rock behind the Chennakēśava temple on the hill

Vīra-Chikkadēva-mahārāja-oḍeya, 1678 A.D.

The record refers to the setting up of the images of the dvārapālakas in the temple of Chennarāya-perumāḷ at Rāyadurga also called Kannatūru-durga, by Muddayya of Aṅganūr who was the agent of Daḷavāyi Nañjanāthayya who was himself the agent of the king. The fort appears to have been under the jurisdiction of Muddaḷagādri- nāyaka.
