TEXT OF INSCRIPTIONS

(A. R. No. 262 of 1931-32)

HOSĀḶA, UDIPI TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab set up in the compound of the Vīrabhadra temple

Vīra-Ballāḷa III, 1334 A.D.

The damaged record refers to a gift of land and some money to god Vīrēśvara by mahāpradhāna Vayijapa-daṇṇāyaka, Ajaṁṇa-sāhaṇi, and others of Baṅga-nāḍu, Uḍuvara and Bārakūru in the presence of the chief queen Chikkāyi-Tāyi. The gift was entrusted Boppi-seṭṭi.

The record is dated Śaka 1255, Śrīmukha, Māgha ba. 5, Thursday corresponding to 1334 A.D., January 26. The week-day however, was Wednesday.

1 ಸ್ವಸ್ತಿ ಶ್ರೀಮತು ಶಕವರು[ಶ]ದ ಸಾವಿರದ ಯಿಂನೂ –

2 ಱ ಅಯಿವತ್ತ ಅಯಿದನೆಯ ಶ್ರೀಮುಖ[ಸಂ] . . . .

3 ಮಾಘ ಬ[ಹು]ಳ ಪಂಚಮಿವೂ ಗುರುವಾ . . . . [ಶ್ರೀಮ] –

4 ತ್ಪಾಂಡ್ಯ ಚಕ್ರವರ್ತ್ತಿ ಅರಿರಾಯ ಬಸವಸಂಕರ [ರಾಯ]

5 ಗಜಾಂಕುಸ ಶ್ರೀಮತು ಪ್ರತಾಪ ಚಕ್ರವರ್ತ್ತಿ ಹೊಯಿಸ –

6 ಣ ಶ್ರೀ ವೀರಬಲ್ಲಾಳದೇವರಸರ ಪಟ್ಟದ ಪಿರಿಯರಸಿ [ಚಿಕ್ಕಾಯ] –

7 ತಾಯಿಗಳ ದಿಬ್ಯ(ವ್ಯ) ಶ್ರೀಪಾದ ಸಂನಿಧಾನದಲು ಶ್ರೀ ಮ –

8 ನು ಮಹಾಪ್ರಧಾನಂ ವಯಿಜಪ ದಂಣಾಯ –

9 ಕರು ಅಜಂಣಸಾಹಣಿಯರು [ದತ್ತಾ]ಳುಗಳ ಬಳಿಯ ಲೋ –

10 ಕ[ನಾಥ] ದೇವರು ಉಡುವರ ಬಳಿಯವರು ನಾಡ ಸಮ –

11 ಸ್ತ ಪ್ರಧಾನರೂ ಬಾರಕೂರ ಹತ್ತುಕೇರಿಯ ಹಲರು ಯೆರಡುಕೋ –

12 ಲ ಬಳಿಯವರು . . . . . . . . . . . . ಮೂ –
