TEXT OF INSCRIPTIONS

(A. R. No. 327 of 1931-32)

SURĀLA, UDIPI TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab (No. 2) set up in the inner prākāra of the mahāliṅgēśvara temple

1434 A.D.

This record registers a gift of land by Kuchchupāḍi, son of Mādāḍi Toḷaha to the temple of Mahādēva for feeding a Brāhmaṇa therein. It was made during the period of Nāgañcha Toḷaha and Bemmaṇañcha.

It is dated Śaka 133[6], Siddhārthi, Āśvija śu. 5, Tuesday. These details are somewhat irregular. The Saka and the cyclic years do not tally. If, however, the cyclic year is a mistake for Ānanda the other given details regularly correspond with 1434 A.D., September 7, Tuesday, f.d.t. 02. This appears to be the intended date.

1 ಶ್ರೀ ಗಣಾಧಿಪತಯೇ ನಮ[B*]ನಮಸ್ತುಂಗ ಸಿರಸ್ತುಂಬಿ ಚಂದ್ರಚಾಮರ ಚಾರವೇ
||ತ್ರಯಿಲೋಕ್ಯ ನಗ-

2 ರಾರಂಭ ಮುಲಸ್ತಂಭಾಯ ಸಂಭವೇ[||*] ಸ್ವಸ್ತಿಶ್ರೀ ಜಯಾದ್ಬುದಯ ಸಕವರುಶ

3 ಸಿದ್ಧಾರ್ಥಿ ಸಂವತ್ಸರದ ಆಶ್ವಿಜ ಶು 5 ಮಂ ಶ್ರೀಮತು ನಾಗಂಚ ತೊಳಹರು

4 ನಾಳುವ ಕಾಲದಲೂ ಬೆಂಮಣಂಚರ ಕಾಲದಲೂ ಮ[ದಾಡಿ] ತೊಳಹರಮಗ

5 ಡಿದ ಧರ್ಮದ ಬಾಳ ವಿವರ ಹೊಸವೂರವೊಳಗೆ [ಕಾ]ಱೆಯ ಬೆಟ್ಟೆಂಬ
ಬಯಲಗದೆಯ ಚತು-

6 ಸೀಮೆಯ ವಿವರ ಮೂಡಲು ಸಂಕರಬಾಯಿರಿಯ ಗಡಿಯಿಂದ ಪಡುವಲು ತೆಂಕಲು
ಸಂಕರ ಬಾ-

7 ಹಿರಿಯ ಮಲಗದೆಯಿಂದ ಬಡಗಲು ಪಡುವಲು ಮಂಗಲೂರ ಬಾಯಿರಿಯಕ್ಕಳ
ಗಡಿಯಿಂದ ಮೂಡಲು [ಬ]-

8 ಡಗಲು ಹೊಳೆಯಿಂದ ತೆಂಕಲು ಯಿಂತೀ ನಾಕು ಚತುಸೀಮೆಯಿಂದ ವೊಳಗೆ ಬಿತ್ತುವ
ಬೆದೆ ಗ-

9 ಣಗಿಲು ನಾಗಂಡುಗದಲು [3] ಮೂಡಿಗದೆ ಬಾಂಕನೆಂಬ ಯೆಕ್ಕಯ ಚತುಸೀಮೆಯ

10 ಲು ಬಾಯಿರಿಯ ಗಡಿಯಿಂದ ಪಡುವಲು ತೆಂಕಲು ಸಂಕರ ಬಾಯಿರಿಯ ಗಡಿಯಿಂ-
