SURĀLA, UDIPI TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab (No. 8) set up in the inner prakara of Mahaliṅgēśvara temple

1451 A.D.

It registers a gift of land by Kōṭyaṇṇa-Koṭhāri for feeding a brāhmaṇa daily in the satra attached to the Mahādēva temple of Surāla, during the period of Nāgañcha Toḷaha and his younger brother Bemmaṇañcha Toḷaha. The record is damaged at the end.

It is dated Śaka 1370, Prajāpati, Chaitra śu 1, Thursday. In the given cyclic year corresponding to Śaka 1373 (not 1370) the tithi fell on 1451 A.D., March 4.

TEXT

1 ಶ್ರೀ ಗಣಾಧಿಪತಯೇ ನಮಃ ನಮಸ್ತುಂಗ ಶಿ-

2 ರಶ್ಚುಂಬಿ ಚಂದ್ರಚಾಮರ ಚಾರವೇ ತ್ರಯಿಲೋಕ್ಯ ನಗರಾರಂ-

3 ಭ ಮೂಲಸ್ತಂಭಾಯ ಶಂಭವೇ[||*] ಸ್ವಸ್ತಿಶ್ರೀ ಜಯಾದ್ಭುದಯ ಷಕ

4 ವರುಶ ಸಾವಿರದ ಮೂನುಱಯೆಪ್ಪತ್ತನೆಯ ನಡೆವ ವರ್ತ್ತಮಾನ

5 ವ್ಯವಹಾರಿಕ ಪ್ರಜೋತ್ಪತ್ಯ ಸಂವತ್ಸರದ ಚೈಯಿತ್ರ ಶು 1 ಗು-

6 ರು ವಾರದಲೂ ಶ್ರೀಮತು ಸಕಲಗುಣ ಸಂಪಂನರಪ್ಪ

7 ನಾಗಂಚತೊಳಹರ ಕಾಲದಲಿ ಅವರತಂಮ ಬೆಂಮಣಂಚ-

8 ರು ಕುಮಾರ ಉ್ರತ್ತಿಯಲಿ ನಡವಕಾಲದಲಿ ಸೂರಾಲ ಮಹಾದೇ-

9 ವಶ ಸಂನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೋಟ್ಯಂಣ ಕೊಠಾರಿ ಮಾಡಿದ ಧಂರ್ಮ-

10 ಕೆ ಬರದ ಶಿಲಾಶಾಸನದ ಕ್ರಮವೆಂತೆಂದರೆ ಶ್ರೀಮಹಾ ದೇ-

11 ವರ ಸಂನಿಧಿಯಲಿ ಮಾಡಿದ ಧಂ[ರ್ಮ] ದಿನಕೆ ಒಬ್ಬ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣ-

12 ೦ಗೆ ತ್ಸತ್ರ ನಡವ[ದ*]ಕೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಧಂರ್ಮಕೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿನಡವ ಬಾಳಿನ

13 ವಿವರ ಹೊಸಊರ ಒಳಗೆಹ ಚಿತ್ತವನ ಕಯ್ಯಲಿ ಕೋ-
