SURĀLA, UDIPI TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab (No.7) set up in the inner prākāra of Mahāliṅgēśvara temple

1452 A.D.

This record is dated Śaka 1373, Prajōtapatti, phālguṇa su. 1, Monday, corresponding to 1452 A.D., February 21.

It registers a gift of land by Ṅāgañcha Toḷaha and his younger brother Bemmaṇsñcha who was enjoying the kumAravritti for feeding brāhamaṇas in the satra attached to the temple of Mahādēva at Surāla and set up by Mādāḍi Toḷaha. It was entrusted to madhyasaha Vāsudēva- chhātra, son of Kēśava-chhātra of Tekkaṭṭi. It also records another similar gift by Rāma-uḍupa.

The supplementary record found at the end registers another gift of land made for a similar purpose by Nāgañcha Toḷaha and Bemmaṇañcha to Mādhava sēnada and Purusa-sēnaba, sons of Gaṅgādhara- sēnabōva.

1 ಶ್ರೀ ಗಣಾಧಿಪತಯೇಂ ನಮಃ | ನಮಸ್ತುಂಗ ಷಿರಸ್ತುಂಬಿ ಚಂದ್ರಚಾಮರ ಚಾರ-

2 ವೇ ತ್ರಯಿಲೋಕ್ಯ ನಗರಾರಂಭ ಮೂಲಸ್ತಂಭಾಯ ಸಂಭವೇ [||*] ಸ್ವಸ್ತಿಶ್ರೀ
ಜಯಾಭ್ಯುದ-

3 ಯ ಷಕವರುಷ 1373 ನೆಯ ವರ್ತ್ತಮಾನ ಪ್ರಜೋತ್ಪತ್ಯ ಸಂವತ್ಸರದ
ಫಾಲ್ಗುನ ಶು 1ಲು ಸೋಮ-

4 ವಾರದಲು ಶ್ರೀಮತು ಸಕಲ ಗುಣ ಸಂಪಂನರಪ್ಪ ನಾಗಂಚ ತೊಳಹರು ಅವರ
ತಂ-

5 ಮ ಕುಮಾರ ಉ್ರತ್ತಿಯ ಬೆಂಮಣಂಚರು ಯೆರಡೂರು ನಾಲ್ಕುಮನೆಯ ಬಂಧುಗ-

6 ಳು ನೆಣಗುಂದಿ ಮುವತ್ತುನಲು ಬಾಳುಮುಂತಾಗಿ ತೊಳಹರು ಬೆಂಮಂಣಂಚರು
