ĀVARŚE, UDIPI TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab standing at ‘Kūsaḷabeṭṭu’ in the hamlet Kirāḍi

Bukka I, 1370 A.D.

This badly damaged record seems to registers a gift of money income and also land for the supply of flower-garlands and other service, to god Kōṭinātha (Kōṭīśvara)dēva. Gōparasa is stated to have been administering Bārakūru-rājya at the instance of the king. Other details are lost.

It is dated Śaka [1293], Sādhāraṇa Pushya śu. 1 . . . , Saṁkramaṇa. In the given cyclic year Saṁkramaṇa, i.e., Uttarāyaṇa-saṁkramaṇa. occurred on 1370 A.D., December 27, Friday when the tithi was śu. 9 in the month Pushya. This might be the intended date. The Śaka year was current.
