TEXT OF INSCRIPTIONS

17 ನ್ಯ ಶಾಸನಕ್ಕೆ ಅರುತಪ್ಪಿದವರುಗಳು ಸೋಮಸುರಿ –

18 ಯ ಗ್ರಹಣದಲಿ ವಾರಣಾಸಿಯಲಿ ಸಾವಿರಕವಿ –

19 ಲೆಯ ಕೊಂದ ಪಾಪದಲಿ ಹೋಹರು || ದಾನೆ ಪಾಲನೆ –

20 ಯೋರ್ಮಧ್ಯೇ ಪಾಲನಂತು ವಿಶಿಷ್ಯತೇ ದಾನಾತ್ ಸ್ವರ್ಗ –

21 ಮವಾಪ್ನೋತಿ ಪಾಲನಾದಚ್ಯುತಂ ಪದಂ ||

NĪLĀVARA, UDIPI TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab (No. 8) set up in the prakara of Mahishasuramardini temple

Harihara II, 1387 A.D.

This record is dated Śaka 1310, Prabhava, Vaiśākha śu. 15, Friday, corresponding to 1387 A.D. May 3. The Śaka year was current.

It registers an assignment of income from lands to the temple of Durgā-Bhagavati by Bayiraṇṇa-voḍeya, son of Malla-gauḍa, a servant (?) of Irugappa-voḍeya, son of mahāpradhāna Bayicheya-daṇṇāyaka, the residents of the village Niruvāra and the servants of the temple, for the worship and offerings to goddess Durgādēvi and for the repairs to the temple. The record states that the king was ruling from his nelevīḍu at Dōrasamudra and that Mallappa-oḍeya of Honnāvura was administering the city of Bāraha-Kanyāpura (modern Bārakūr) and mahāmaṇḍalēśvara, vīra-pratāpa, Kumāra Bukkarāya was in-charge of the administration of the town of Niruvāra-paṁchami.

4 ಮನ್ಮಹಾರಾಜಾಧಿರಾಜ ರಾಜಪರಮೇಶ್ವರ ಪೂರ್ವ್ವ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ಸಮು-

5 ದ್ರಾದೀಶ್ವರಂ ಅರಿರಾಯ ವಿಭಾಡ ಭಾಷೆಗೆ ತಪ್ಪುವರಾಯರಗಂಡ ಶ್ರೀವೀ –

6 ರ ಹರಿಹರ ಮಹಾರಾಯನು ದೋರಸಮುದ್ರದ ನೆಲೆ ವೀಡಿನಲು ಸುಖಸಂಕ-

7 ಥಾ ವಿನೋದದಿಂ ರಾಜ್ಯಂಗೆಯ್ಯುತ್ತಂ ಯಿಹಕಾಲದಲು ಹೊನಾವುರ –

8 ದ ಮಲ್ಲಪ್ಪ ಒಡೆಯರು ಬಾರಹ ಕಂನ್ಯಾಪುರದ ನಗರಮಂ ಪ್ರತಿಪಾಲಿಸು -
