EPIGRAPHIA INDICA

7 vadu Mêsha-nâyar[ru] pû[rvva]-pakshattu
8 tri(tṛi)tîyaiyum Tiṅgaḷ-ki[lam]aiyum per-
9 ra Rôśaṇi-nâḷ.

In the thirty-sixth year (of the reign) of the emperor of the three worlds, the glorious Tribhuvanavîradêva, who was pleased to take Madurai, Îlam, Karuvûr and the crowned head of the Pâṇḍya, and was pleased to perform the anointment of heroes and the anointment of victors,─ on the day of Rôhiṇî, which corresponded to a Monday and to the third tithi of the first fortnight of the month of Mêsha.”

The date corresponds to Monday, the 14th April A.D. 1214, which was the 21st day of the month of Mêsha, and on which the 3rd tithi of the bright half (of Vaiśâkha, i.e. the akshayatṛitîyâ) ended 19 h. 29 m., while the nakshatra was Rôhiṇî, by the equal space system and according to Garga for 14 h. 27 m., and by the Brahma-siddhânta for 13 h. 47 m., after mean sunrise.

“ In the 37th year (of the reign) of the emperor of the three worlds, the glorious Tribhuvanavîradêva, who took Madurai, Îlam, Karuvûr and the crowned head of the Pâṇḍya, and was pleased to perform the anointment of heroes and the anointment of victors,─ on the day of Kṛittikâ, which corresponded to a Monday and to the fourteenth tithi of the first fortnight of the month of Vṛiśchika.”

The date corresponds to Monday, the 17th November A.D. 1214, which was the 21st day of the month of Vṛiśchika, and on which the 14th tithi of the bright half (of Mârgaśîrsha) commenced about sunrise, while the nakshatra was Kṛittikâ, by the Brahma-siddhânta for 11 h. 50 m., according to Garga for 13 h. 8 m., and by the equal space system from 0 h. 39 m., after mean sunrise.

1 Svasti [śrî][||*] Tirib[u]vanachchak[k]rava[r]ttigaḷ Madurai[yum] Îlamum Karuvûrum Pâṇḍiyanai muḍi-ttalaiyum koṇḍu vîrar=abhishê[ka]mmum[3] vijayar= Abhishêkammum[3] paṇṇi[y-a]ruḷiya śrî-Tiribuvana[vîra]dêvarku yâṇḍu 39âvadu Kumba-nâyarru a[pa]ra-pakshattu prathamaiyum [Bu]dan-kilammaiyum[4] perra Magattu nâḷ.

“ In the 39th year (of the reign) of the emperor of the three worlds, the glorious Tribhuvanavîradêva, who took Madurai, Îlam, Karuvûr and the crowned head of the Pâṇḍya, and was pleased to perform the anointment of heroes and the anointment of victors,─ on the day of Maghâ, which corresponded to a Wednesday and to the first tithi of the second fortnight of the month of Kumbha.”

The date corresponds to Wednesday, the 25th January A.D. 1217, which was the 3rd day of the month of Kumbha, and on which the first tithi of the dark half (of Mâgha) ended 12 h. 54 m., while the nakshatra was Maghâ, by the equal space system for 11 h. 50 m., after mean sunrise.
