From impressions. The reading was also verified from personal examination of the record.
[2] Metre irregular, for which see n. 8 on the next page.
[3] And not Upēndravajrā, as taken by Halder.
[4] Expressed by a symbol which is preceded by what appears to be a symbol for Siddham, followed by two daṇḍas. The mātrās and the anusvāra appearing above the line are ornamental,
[5] At the end of the line there is a symbol resembling the akshara छ followed by two daṇḍas.
[6] The wrong form is used here evidently for metrical exigency.
[7] The vertical stroke of the left limb of म is faint in the impressions but it is clear in the facsimile accompanying Halder’s article in Ep. Ind., Vol. XXI and also on the stone which I examined.
[8] Halder corrects it to ज्जो which is not necessary.
[9] The ninth akshara of this foot is unnecessarily stressed by the following प्र, but also see the PiṅgalaSūtra प्रह्ने वा, according to which, it is not an offence.
[10] The strokes following this letter are redundant,
[11] The daṇḍa is redundant.
[12] The impression shows a dot above this letter ; it may be a redundant stroke or a mātrā (?). It may also have been श्र्पालोकः,
[13] The daṇḍa is redundant, as also some others belo
[14] What is at th end of the line is not a daṇḍa but only a flourish of the mātrā. This foot also involves yatī-bhaṅga,
[15] The adjective सत् is redundant here.
