INSCRIPTIONS OF THE SILAHARAS OF NORTH KONKAN
date was 773, not 775. The writer of the present inscription evidently committed a mistake
in recording the Śaka year.
..As for the localities mentioned in the present inscription, the Gauḍa-vishaya probably comprised some territory of West Bengal. Kṛishṇagiri is, of course, the hill of Kānhērī.
Chikahyallapallikā, mentioned as the place of the residence of a witness in the present record,
is modern Chikhlolī, just near Ambarnāth in the Kalyāṇ tālukā of the Ṭhāṇā District. It lies
about 20 miles east of the Kānhērī Caves.
