EPIGRAPHIA INDICA
Chāḷukyas, the inveterate enemies of the Pallavas. The Bāṇa king, who ruled from Pāṁbuliggi,
may have been a successor of Vikramāditya Bali Indra Bāṇarāja, son of Balikulatilaka Narasiṁha Bāṇādhirāja, who figures in the inscription of the 23rd year of Vijayāditya Chāḷukya at Koṇḍupalli noted above. The Chōlamahārāja referred to in the record was evidently the king of the
record. Vijayādi[tya]-Chōḷa. Pāṁbuliggi from where the Bāṇa is stated to be ruling, may be
identified with Hāvaḷige in the Gooty taluk, Anantapur District. An inscription of the time of
Tribhuvanamalla Vikramāditya VI found at this place [1] gives Hāṁbuḷige as its name, evidently
a later from of Pāṁbuliggi occurring in our record.
