Tirumaraikkāḍuḍaiyān alias Vayirādarāyan arranged for the draining of the water and for preventing recurrence of the floods by changing the course of the stream in its higher reaches on the borders of the village of Kuṇḍaiyūr. The old course of the stream with some additional lands belonging to the temple was converted into a second road surrounding the village and named Tirumaraikkāḍuḍalyān.
